SYDNEY: Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong has said that Israeli information regarding the death of an Australian aid worker during an attack on Gaza was insufficient.
The Foreign Minister said that her country had “made clear that they have not yet received sufficient information to satisfy their expectations over killing of Australian aid worker in Gaza. She made the remarks after briefed by Israeli authorities over the matter. The Australian citizen was among 7 aid workers killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese strongly denounced the “completely unacceptable” strike and extended sincere condolences to the family of Australian worker.
Australia Terms Israeli Information on Killing of Aid Worker as Insufficient
Earlier, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese stated that based on an assessment, that she believes the Israeli army “intentionally killed” the seven aid workers in the Gaza Strip to alarm donors of humanitarian assistance and ensure the continued famine of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
the UN’s Ambassador said that having knowledge and idea of the Israeli army’s operating procedures, the killings were conducted intentionally so that donors would pull out and civilians the Strip would continue to be famished.
Earlier, the US, France, Britain, and Australia criticized Israel for deadly strike in Gaza that killed charity workers. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called for a “swift, impartial probe” into the attack, highlighting the need for Israel to improve safety for innocent Palestinian people in Gaza.
French Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephane Sejourne emphasized the moral and lawful imperative to safeguard aid workers in Gaza. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron asked Israel to carry out an urgent investigation and provide a comprehensive explanation of the deadly strike against the aid workers.
EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez also strongly denounced the attack on aid workers.
