ISLAMABAD/Australia: Stella Berry, 16, was murdered by a shark in a Western Australian (WA) river while swimming in identified on Saturday. The schoolgirl was announced dead after being removed from the Swan River in Perth.
Police said that Stella, with a friend, was riding jet skis, and she was attacked when she went into the water to swim with dolphins. Her parents said they were “deeply shocked and devastated.”
Stella was a happy and vibrant girl
Sophie Berry and Matt said their daughter was a “happy and vibrant girl” who loved the water and art. “She was a caring person and dear friend to many people. A loving and beautiful big sister and the best daughter we could ever have hoped for.”
Lara Connolly, One of her friends, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that Stella was the “sweetest and smartest girl I knew ever. “She was so kind,” Lara said.
The WA Fisheries Minister stated that it was “likely” a bull shark, although authorities are still looking into what kind of shark was involved.
According to Don Punch, the government would think about what it may do to stop similar events. We’re always willing to discuss shark obstacles with the local government.
It is unusual to see sharks in this area of the Swan River, said the fisheries specialists, and this is the first deadly attack in a century. In the past, shark bite deaths were uncommon.
Australia’s shark attack death rate is less than one person per year. There were two fatal shark attacks in 2021, and in 2020, there were seven.
