ISLAMABAD: Australia outclassed T20 World Champions England by 6 wickets in the opening One Day International fixture of a three-match tie at Adelaide Cricket Ground, Australia on Thursday.

David Warner 86 (84 balls) and Steven Smith 80 not out (78 balls) were a nightmare for the English bowlers, who could not take a breath of sigh during the whole innings. Kangaroos got their 288 runs target in 47.5 overs.

David Warner and Travis Head started the Australian innings, as they had 288 runs target set on the scoreboard by the England team that had defeated Pakistan in the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup final last Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground, and managed 147 runs for the first wicket stand in the 19.4 overs, as it seemed that both batters were playing a T20 match.

David Warner’s clattering inning

Head was first to go after scoring 69 runs after facing 57 balls with the help of 10 fours and one huge six while Warner played a clattering inning of 86 runs, as he was not behind in smashing boundaries, as hit 10 fours and one six too.

Steven Smith contributed an 80 runs unbeaten innings and took his team at the edge of a massive victory. He lasted 78 balls during his inning and hit 9 four and a six. David Willy (2 for 51), Jorden (1 for 49 and Liam Diwson (1 for 65) were the wicket-taker bowlers for England.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and asked visitors to bat first. England managed 287 for 9 in 50 overs, as the Dawid Malan was hero, who smashed an aggressive ton. He scored 134 runs with the help of 4 sixes and 12 fours.

Chris Jorden (34), David Willy (34), and skipper Joe Buttler (29) were other major contributors. Adam Zampa chipped in three wickets after conceding 55 runs. Captain Pat Cummins also got three wickets after giving 62 runs. Mittchel Strac and Marcus shared each one wicket.
