ISLAMABAD: Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, the convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, described the events of August 5 as one of the darkest chapters in recent Jammu and Kashmir history.
He declared that Kashmiris do not accept the illegal actions the Modi-led Indian government took on that day in 2019 in defiance of UN resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar stated in a statement released in Islamabad on Thursday that the RSS-supported apartheid regime led by Modi seized all political, social, religious, and other fundamental rights of the people of the occupied territory on August 5 of 2019 through use of force.
As a result, the Kashmiris observe the day as “Youm-e-Istehsal.” He claimed that India’s illegal attempt to revoke Kashmir’s special status was an assault on the region’s distinctive identity and was intended to alter Jammu and Kashmir’s status as an internationally contested territory. He declared that Kashmiris would keep fighting till they won the right to self-determination.
Saghar stated that India’s oppressive and repressive actions cannot stop the Kashmiri people from obtaining their fundamental rights. To condemn Indian aggression and call attention to the misery of the Kashmiri people, the APHC-AJK Convener invited Kashmiris worldwide to stage protest rallies on August 5. —APP
