ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), made serious allegations on Wednesday, claiming that leaked audio conversations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have exposed a sabotage plan orchestrated by PTI chief Imran Khan.
In a Twitter message addressing the political unrest following Imran Khan’s arrest, Maryam Nawaz stated that no significant support was observed for the “evil” PTI chief across the country.
She alleged that a group of trained individuals affiliated with PTI emerged in support of Imran Khan after receiving training at Zaman Park.
According to her, the leaked audios provide evidence of a sabotage plan devised by Imran Khan, including marked installations where attacks would be launched in case of his arrest.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the nation had witnessed the “terrorists of PTI” and expressed that the public has rejected participation in any protest, which she views as a blow to Imran Khan’s politics of agitation. She called on the government not to show leniency in dealing with these miscreants.
Violent protests after Imran Khan’s arrest
Earlier on Wednesday, controversial audio leaks allegedly involving PTI leaders discussing the vandalism of the Lahore Corps Commander House came to light.
In one audio message, PTI ticket holder Ibad Farooq claimed to have reached the Lahore Corps Commander House along with Yasmeen Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Mahmood ur Rasheed.
He stated that they had received instructions from Yasmin Rashid to set the Corps Commander House on fire and were instructed not to cease until the PTI chairman’s release.
Another audio tape allegedly featured Ijaz Chaudhry and his son Ali Chaudhry discussing the vandalism of government property. In the audio, Ijaz Chaudhry discussed the ongoing protests following Imran Khan’s arrest, mentioning injuries sustained by individuals and the extensive damage inflicted upon his house.
Violent clashes erupted across Pakistan after Imran Khan, the former prime minister and PTI chief, was arrested from the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.
Protests have been reported in both remote and major cities as PTI workers express their agitation over their leader’s arrest. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad have called upon the armed forces to ensure law and order in response to the situation.
