ISLAMABAD: In fresh attacks, Russian forces carried out shelling in the entire front line in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
Ukrainian officials said that the fiercest fighting was underway near the towns of Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

Russian attacks
In a video, the region’s governor Pavlo Kyurylenko said that at least five civilians were killed and two injured in the latest Russian shelling of Ukrainian-controlled parts of Donetsk.
The governor said on Friday that the entire front line was being shelled by Russian troops, who were also attempting to advance near Lyman, which was recaptured from Russian forces by Ukraine in November.
Ukrainian forces countered with a barrage of rockets in Bakhmut and other parts of the Donetsk region, neighbouring the Luhansk province.
In a video post, Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said that the Russians have intensified their attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk.

He said that Russians were now attempting to conduct offensive operations against Ukraine, which is defending itself and destroying the enemy’s infantry and equipment as it tried to advance.
Earlier, the Ukrainian general staff said that their armed forces attacked Russian positions and troop assembly points in half a dozen towns in the south of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian general staff said that Russia suffered injuries to its 240 soldiers with at least three ammunition depots and as much military equipment destroyed.
