ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Monday to express condolences following the killing of two Chinese nationals in a blast in Karachi.

During his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, Naqvi conveyed his profound grief and sorrow over the loss of life. He provided the Ambassador with detailed information regarding the blast and the ongoing investigation.

“The entire Pakistani nation shares in this sorrow with our Chinese brethren,” Naqvi stated, assuring the Ambassador that those responsible for the incident would be brought to justice.

The Minister said that the safety of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan is a top priority for the government. He condemned the attack, asserting that such acts against the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China would not be tolerated.

Earlier, the Chinese embassy strongly condemned the “terrorist attack,” offering heartfelt condolences to the “innocent victims of both countries” and extending sincere sympathies to the injured and their families.

In a statement, the embassy said that a “convoy carrying Chinese staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company (Private) Limited was targeted near Jinnah International Airport.”

The embassy and its consulate generals are “collaborating closely with Pakistani authorities to address the aftermath,” the statement added.

Additionally, the embassy urged Pakistan to “thoroughly investigate the attack, ensure severe punishment for the perpetrators, and implement all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects in the country.”

It also advised “Chinese citizens, enterprises, and projects in Pakistan to remain vigilant, closely monitor the security situation, enhance safety measures, and take every precaution to ensure their safety.”
