ATC Grants Bail to 64 PTI Workers in Judicial Complex Violence Case

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday granted bail to Amjad Khan Niazi (Imran Khan’s close relative) and 63 other workers of PTI in a case pertaining to violence in the premises of the Federal Judicial Complex last Saturday (March 18) when the ex-prime minister Imran Khan appeared in the Complex for a court hearing.

ATC (Anti-Terrorism Court) judge Raja Jawad Abbasi accepted the request of the PTI leaders and workers and instructed them to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000.

PTI workers, police clash outside Judicial Complex

Earlier on March 18, hours-long clashes were reported between PTI workers and the capital police, where both sides used teargas and anti-riot gear against each other to push back the opposing side.

According to police, scores of officials were injured in the clashes, and the protestors set many vehicles on fire.

Subsequently, Imran khan, along with several other PTI leaders, including Amjad Niazi, was booked in terrorism cases.

Moreover, the Islamabad police said on Wednesday that it had arrested more than 300 PTI supporters, accusing them of “incitement, arson, vandalism [and] attacks on police.”

On the same day, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, in a tweet, condemned police for arresting PTI workers, including Hasan Niazi, and termed Hasan arrest as abduction and further called the episode “Shameful fascism and the law of the jungle.”
