ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for a “just and inclusive international financial architecture” that supports the sustainable development goals of developing countries.
The Deputy PM made the remarks while participating in the General Debate of the Ministerial Segment of the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Monday, a Foreign Office statement said.
In his national statement, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and outlined key policy measures driving inclusive growth, climate resilience, and economic reform.

He highlighted transformative initiatives including the Benazir Income Support Programme for social protection, ‘Living Indus’ & ‘Recharge Pakistan’ for climate adaptation and renewable energy, and Uraan Pakistan and Digital Youth Programmes to enhance youth empowerment, education, and digital inclusion.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in aligning foreign direct investment with Pakistan’s development priorities, especially in sectors vital for sustainable growth.
“We are scaling up climate action, targeting 60% renewable energy by 2030, and enhancing resilience through initiatives such as Recharge Pakistan and the Living Indus. Our revised nationally determined contribution is nearing finalisation,” he said.
He also advocated for a fair and inclusive international financial system that supports the sustainable development goals of developing nations. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to global cooperation, he emphasised the need for a more equitable and resilient future.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar during the visit, he will lead high-level signature events under Pakistan’s Presidency of the UN Security Council, hold bilateral and multilateral meetings in New York and Washington, DC, and represent Pakistan at the International Conference on the Two-State Solution, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France.
