PESHAWAR: A devastating explosion rocked the Warsak road area of Peshawar on Monday, leaving at least eight people injured and one martyred. The incident unfolded when a vehicle belonging to security forces was targeted in what authorities suspect to be an improvised explosive device (IED) blast.
Superintendent Warsak Division expressed sorrow over the tragic incident, emphasizing the suspected nature of the explosion as an IED blast. However, the official confirmation of the explosion’s nature will be provided upon the release of a report from the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), which is actively investigating the incident.
The immediate aftermath of the blast saw security forces swiftly cordoning off the area to secure it. Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities, displaying commendable efficiency in the face of adversity.
Initially, the injured victims were taken to Prime Hospital, where they received immediate medical attention. However, as their condition warranted specialized care, the decision was made to transfer them to Lady Reading Hospital for further treatment. The involvement of Rescue 1122 teams ensured that the injured would receive the best available medical care, emphasizing the importance of timely and comprehensive healthcare response during such crises.
The blast occurred in close proximity to the Machni Gate police station, causing injuries to five Frontier Corps personnel and three civilians. Such incidents serve as stark reminders of the ongoing security challenges faced by Pakistan and the unwavering commitment of its security forces to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
