KANDY: In the highly anticipated clash of Asia Cup 2023 between arch-rivals, India had set 267 runs target for Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka here on Saturday.

Pakistan’s left-arm pacers, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, proved to be a formidable challenge for the Indian team. They managed to dismiss the top-order batsmen, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Batting first, India scored 266 runs all out in 48.5 overs.

Earlier, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had won the toss and decide to bat first. Despite the looming weather conditions, Sharma emphasized the need to focus on the game rather than getting too preoccupied with the unpredictable weather.
