RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Pakistan’s Arusha Saeed secured a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg Kurash event at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This achievement marks Pakistan’s first medal at the Games, marking a significant milestone in the country’s increasing participation in traditional and martial sports.

Arusha’s exceptional skill and perseverance were on full display as she fought through fierce competition from some of the world’s top Kurash athletes to claim her place on the podium. Her resilience and determination made her victory a symbol of pride for Pakistan.

The victory was made possible by the efforts of Pakistan’s dedicated Kurash contingent, which was guided by Head Coach Muhammad Saad. Coaches Muhammad Rafique and Shahzaib Nawaz also played critical roles in preparing the athletes through rigorous training and strategic planning. Their collective efforts contributed to Arusha’s outstanding performance in the competition.

Nawab Furqan Khan, Pakistan’s representative to the International Kurash Association (IKA), extended his heartfelt congratulations to Arusha, her coaches, and the entire team for their hard work and success. He praised their dedication, saying, “This medal brings honour to Pakistan and showcases the nation’s growing potential in traditional and combat sports on the global stage.”

While Kurash was featured as a demonstration sport at the Islamic Solidarity Games, with its medals not officially counted in the Games’ overall tally, Arusha’s bronze is a symbolic achievement for Pakistan’s sporting community.

Khan further highlighted that Arusha’s inspiring performance is set to encourage young women across Pakistan to take up sports and aim for excellence on international platforms. Her success, he added, could inspire a new generation to represent Pakistan with pride in various sporting events.

Arusha’s victory not only adds a glittering achievement to Pakistan’s sporting history but also sends a powerful message about the nation’s growing influence in traditional and combat sports.
