ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police, the capital territory police of Pakistan, has lodged a first information report (FIR) against the murder of journalist and anchorperson Arshad Sharif on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Journalist Arshad Sharif was brutally killed in the Nairobi area of Kenya.
Police have nominated three people in the FIR including Tariq Ahmed Wasi, Waqar Ahmed, and Khurram Ahmed – at the Ramna Police Station of the capital police on behalf of the federal government.
Supreme Court orders government to register FIR

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered the federal government to register an FIR of Arshad Sharif’s murder. The apex court has also directed the federal government to submit the fact-finding committee’s report.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial — heading a five-member bench comprised of Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail — issued the orders during a hearing of the suo-motu notice of the Arshad Sharif’s killing.
Political parties of the country, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and others, had requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of Arshad Sharif’s death.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif had also requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate Arshad Sharif’s murder and FIR.
Arshad Sharif’s mother had also requested the apex court to take notice of the journalist’s murder.
Arshad Sharif was murdered by Kenyan GSU officers on October 23 at night time in Kenya in mysterious circumstances.
