Around 20,000 Books Displayed at Annual Book Festival in LCWU

LAHORE: An annual two-day book festival has been organized at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) with around twenty thousand books at display.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Bushra Mirza and Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Dr. Mirza Habib Ali attended the event as special guests and officially inaugurated the festival.

While speaking at the event, Dr. Mirza discussed the importance of reading books in the present age of technology.

She said the purpose of the festival was to increase the habit of book reading among students.

Meanwhile, BISE chairman Dr. Ali said that it was imperative to make book reading common in order to develop as a nation.

Wasif Naagi, another speaker and guest, talked about the need to revive book culture.

Other literary personalities including playwright Iftikhar Ahmed Iffi, Salman Abid and Chief Librarian Dr. Sania Owais also addressed the event.

A great place for book enthusiasts

The festival is a great opportunity for students and book enthusiasts in the city, with around 23 stalls set up at the event. Books on a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular topics, including Urdu literature, English literature, philosophy, history, and social sciences, have been displayed at the event.
