Army Chief’s Visits Peshawar: Focus on Security, Counter-Terrorism, and Development

PESHAWAR: General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid a visit to Peshawar. The COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation, the progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations, the repatriation of illegal foreigners, and socio-economic developments in the Newly Merged Districts.

During the visit, General Munir interacted with officers and soldiers who demonstrated gallantry in various counter-terrorism operations. He commended their heroic actions, stating, “The nation takes pride in and acknowledges the accomplishments of its Armed Forces. Pakistan is destined to succeed, and Pakistan Army will continue its selfless duty of safeguarding every inch of the motherland till the last drop of blood, InshaAllah.”

The COAS participated in an interactive session with participants from the First National Workshop Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NWKP-1). Addressing the gathering, he remarked, “The resolute support of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Security Forces has resulted in stability in the province and progress on projects of socio-economic development.”

Underlining the connection between Pakistan’s prosperity and the progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Munir stressed that the comprehensive strategy has thwarted nefarious designs against the peace and stability of Pakistan.

The COAS also emphasized the importance of economic growth and development in the Newly Merged Districts. He stated, “Illegal foreigners seriously impact Pakistan’s security and economy. The government’s decision to repatriate them is in the interest of Pakistan, and the process is being carried out in a humane and dignified manner following established norms.”

Upon arrival, General Munir was warmly received by the Commander Peshawar Corps, marking the commencement of a visit focused on ensuring security, fostering development, and addressing challenges in the region. The visit underscores the commitment of Pakistan Army to safeguarding the nation and fostering socio-economic progress in critical areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
