YEREVAN: Armenia has expressed concern over Azerbaijan’s continued obstruction of aid deliveries to Armenian-populated areas in Nagorno-Karabakh, cautioning that this obstruction could jeopardize the potential for peace between the two nations. The Lachin corridor, a crucial mountainous route connecting Armenia to Armenian-populated regions in the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh, has allegedly been blocked by Baku for several months.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan raised the issue during a government meeting, revealing that trucks carrying essential supplies such as pasta, sugar, and baby food have been barred from entering the region without any explanation provided by Azerbaijan.

Armenia Urges Azerbaijan to Avoid Controversial Actions

Pashinyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to the peace process and urged Baku to avoid actions that could undermine the historic opportunity to establish lasting peace between the two countries.

Despite mediation efforts by international entities such as the European Union, United States, and Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, which have been engaged in two wars over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, have not yet achieved a comprehensive and enduring peace agreement.

The humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has been a growing concern, with both Armenia and international aid organizations highlighting severe shortages of essential supplies including food, medicine, and energy.
