LONDON: Police have launched an intensive investigation after a group of armed robbers carried out a dramatic daylight raid on a Rolex boutique in central London.
Six suspects wearing motorcycle helmets forced their way into the Bucherer store in Knightsbridge on Tuesday morning, threatening staff and members of the public with weapons, including machetes.
The gang used a stolen motorcycle to ram the front of the shop before stealing a number of high-value watches, according to BBC.
The suspects abandoned the motorcycle inside the store and escaped on four mopeds that had been parked outside. No injuries were reported.
Officers were called to the scene shortly before 11:00 GMT, with specialist detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad arriving within minutes.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather said investigators were working “at pace” to trace those responsible and appealed for witnesses, stressing the force’s determination to bring the offenders to justice. No arrests have been made so far.
