BUNIA: Local sources said on Friday that eighteen people, including 11 women and 4 children, were killed by attackers in Ituri, in the north-east of DR Congo.
AFP cited sources as saying that the Thursday assault, whose committers have not yet been recognized, took place in the area of Balingina, Irumu territory.

Local official Colonel Siro Simba told AFP that they have returned from the region, where 18 dead bodies of innocent people were buried. The official claimed that one suspect was arrested after the incident.
A humanitarian source also confirmed that 18 people, including eleven women, 4 children and 3 men, had been buried in a mass grave in Balingina.
Some reports said that seven people were killed in another assault in the same region but the reports could not be verified independently.
