GENEVA: The Arab Group at the United Nations in Geneva has called upon Israel to immediately and unconditionally free the abducted Palestinian children.

The Arab Group also called on the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to pay a visit to the Israeli illegal detention centers and prisons where large number of kidnapped children are being tortured and faced psychological pressures.

The group said that Israeli treatment towards these children makes it difficult for them to be rehabilitated and integrated into society, if freed.

Special Envoy of the Arab League Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Sheikha Hessa Khalifa Al Thani, made the statement on behalf of the Arab Group at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday.

The Group expressed its firm belief that every child deserves a nurturing and safe environment to grow and achieve his full potential.

The envoy went on to say that Palestinian children are suffering too much because of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. The group noted that the Israeli occupation forces have killed more than 12,600 Palestinian children so far.

The group referred to the speech of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who stated that Gaza has become a graveyard for children.

The Arab Group added that Sudanese children are also facing a deep humanitarian crisis due to the conflict.

The group stressed the need to ensure all necessary aid and facilitate children in all conflicting zones. It said that children must be provided necessary care and protection.
