Arab Foreign Ministers to Meet Blinken on Gaza: Jordan

AMMAN: Jordan has announced that it will host a meeting on Saturday between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Arabian counterparts, along with participation of the Palestinians.

A foreign ministry statement on Friday said the officials during the talks will stress the Arab stance calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, delivering humanitarian aid in the besieged area and ways to end the conflict that threatens the security of the region.

Israeli strikes kill 9,227 Palestinians in Gaza

The Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Friday said the death toll in the Gaza Strip from the ongoing Israeli attacks has risen to 9,227, including 3,826 children and 2,405 women.

Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra, speaking at a news conference in Gaza, disclosed that an additional 23,516 people had been injured, with 2,100 still trapped under the rubble, including 1,200 children.

Blinken, who arrived on Friday after earlier meeting Israeli leaders, said the US was determined that there should be no second or third front in the conflict. He also asked Israel to take measures to protect civilians in Gaza.

According to Jordanian foreign ministry the Arab ministers will also hold a meeting before their discussions with Blinken as part of their diplomatic efforts to lobby with major powers to put pressure on Israel to end its military strikes.

The statement said the coordination meeting is part of their diplomatic efforts to end the Israeli war on Gaza that is causing a humanitarian catastrophe.
