NEW YORK: The Arab League Council, at the level of Arab foreign ministers, during its annual consultative meeting on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York reaffirmed its support for Lebanon facing Israeli aggression, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The meeting chaired by Yemen, focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and the recent dangerous escalation targeting Lebanon.

In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, it was emphasized that the Arab ministers jointly affirmed their full support for Lebanon in confronting the Israeli aggression. The meeting expressed solidarity with Lebanon, both its government and its people and strongly denounced the escalating attacks by Israel.

The ministers held Israel responsible for the escalating violence, warning of the potential repercussions leading to a regional conflict. They said that a large-scale assault on Lebanon could destabilize the entire region, risking a comprehensive war.

The statement further said that the ministers agreed on the necessity of coordinating with member countries of the Islamic group in the coming days to deliver a clear message to the global community, urging an immediate end to the Israeli aggression.
