DUBAI: Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda show in Puglia, Italy, witnessed the presence of Arab talent as Saudi model Amira Al-Zuhair took to the runway, while Dubai-based influencer Ola Farahat graced the audience with her presence.
The star-studded event held in the Mediterranean region of Italy attracted a guest list that included the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, Kim Kardashian, Venus Williams, Christian Bale, Erling Haaland, and around 500 other distinguished attendees.
The show, followed by a dinner, formed part of a five-day extravaganza where clients from around the world indulged in festivities hosted by the renowned fashion label.
Dolce & Gabbana’s collection showcased a more subdued aesthetic compared to previous Alta Moda presentations, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and a tribute to local artistry.
Arab Model Grace the Runway
The opening model adorned an oversized glazed straw hat in the distinctive conical shape of the trulli, traditional dry stone huts with corbelled roofs found in the enchanting Itria Valley of Puglia. The show also featured basket weave corsets and lingerie sets crafted from crochet doilies, beautifully exhibited by Saudi French model Amira Al-Zuhair as she graced the runway in an elegant black ensemble.
The event took place in Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning stone buildings dating back to the 14th century. The designers showcased the talents of local artisans, who lined the narrow streets-turned-runway, skillfully weaving straw baskets and crafting leather bridles.
Amira Al-Zuhair, currently experiencing a whirlwind summer, recently made appearances on the runways of several renowned labels during Paris Haute Couture Week. Born to a French mother and a Saudi father, Al-Zuhair walked for Georges Hobeika and Elie Saab, listed on the official calendar, and also participated in Georges Chakra’s show on the sidelines of the couture week in Paris.
“With each show, you get a different atmosphere, mood, and energy. There’s a different inspiration behind each collection, reflected in the clothes and the way we act and walk,” Al-Zuhair previously expressed to Arab News. “I’m very grateful for all the opportunities that I’ve been given and to all of these designers for trusting me. It’s a big responsibility. I see the work that goes into it behind the scenes, and it’s a very emotional experience. To me, fashion is an art and a form of self-expression. I’m honored to be able to present these collections and their designers’ works of art to the world.”
