NEW YORK: Apple confirmed that it has identified specific issues causing some iPhone 15 devices to run warmer than expected. The company stated that one of the problems stemmed from a bug in the iOS 17 software, which will be addressed in an upcoming update.

Additionally, Apple mentioned that the device might feel warmer in its initial days “after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity.”

Another identified issue relates to recent updates in third-party apps, specifically Asphalt 9, Meta’s Instagram, and Uber, which have been overloading the system. Apple assured users that it is collaborating with app developers to rectify these problems, with some fixes already in the process of being rolled out. Instagram resolved its app issue on September 27.

Crucially, the upcoming bug fix in iOS 17 will not compromise the iPhone’s performance to manage its temperature.

iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max Models Do Not Overheat

Apple clarified that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models do not experience overheating issues due to their design, highlighting that the new titanium shells contribute to improved heat dissipation when compared to the previous stainless steel models.

The technology giant emphasized that these overheating concerns do not pose safety or injury risks and will not impact the long-term performance of the affected phones. Apple users can expect the company to address these concerns promptly with software updates and collaboration with third-party app developers.
