SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a fervent appeal to the international community in the face of unfolding humanitarian crises and the potential global peace threat arising from the protracted Palestine issue. The APHC’s statement emphasizes the urgency of revitalizing efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions, aimed at averting a potential catastrophe in South Asia.
The spokesperson of the APHC underscored the unfortunate reality that the United Nations and world powers have seemingly forgotten or intentionally ignored the Kashmir dispute, despite it being one of the oldest unresolved conflicts on the UN’s agenda. The statement highlights India’s imposition of repressive laws, including the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. These laws have led to the persecution, arrest, and intimidation of innocent and unarmed Kashmiris.
Furthermore, the statement highlights the plight of thousands of Kashmiri youths who have been arbitrarily detained by Indian forces, often labeled as militants based on mere suspicion. These detained youths endure extreme forms of torture during interrogations. Despite employing various strategies, India has been unsuccessful in quelling the Kashmiri people’s unyielding aspirations for freedom. The statement underscores the dire need for the international community to reengage with the Kashmir issue and support a peaceful resolution in line with UN resolutions.
