ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has paid tributes to the renowned intellectual, leading figure of Kashmir freedom movement and Executive Director of Kashmir Media Service (KMS) Islamabad, late Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam for his precious and unparalleled services to the Kashmir cause.
The APHC-AJK chapter held a condolence reference today (Friday) at its Islamabad office to remember late Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam on his second death anniversary. The reference was presided over by Mahmood Ahmed Saghar while Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, Raja Najabat Hussain was chief guest on the occasion.
Mehmood Ahmad Saghar claimed on this occasion that Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam protested against India’s illegitimate control of Jammu and Kashmir, which led to Indian retaliation. He claimed that between 1974 and 1984, Sheikh Tajammul suffered greatly in prison on multiple occasions and was hounded by Indian forces because of his anti-Indian views and actions. He claimed that Sheikh Tajamul was instrumental in turning Kashmir Media Service into a well-known and active organization.
Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam was honored by other speakers, who praised him for his contributions to the Kashmir independence movement. They described him as a valued asset who had dedicated his entire life to the cause of freedom and who had worked tirelessly on the political, diplomatic, and journalistic fronts for the cause of Kashmir. They said, “He was a real thinker, writer, and intellectual.”
Prayers were said at the conclusion of the reference for Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam and all the Kashmiri martyrs.
Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mir Tahir Masood, Nisar Mirza, Imtiaz Wani, Syed Ejaz Rahmani, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Salim Haroon, Khursheed Ahmad Mir, Zahid Safi, Haji Sultan Butt, Khadim Hussain, Syed Mushtaq, Zahid Ashraf, Abdul Majeed, Mian Muzaffar, Gulshan Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Majeed, Iqbal Baloch, Asif Mahmood, Rais Ahmad Mir, Shabbir Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, Qazi Imran, Attaullah and others participated in the condolence reference.
