SRINAGAR: Senior leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Thursday called for the urgent intervention of the United Nations and world to address the current atrocities committed by Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris in the India Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), local media reported.

They asked the UN to compel New Delhi to grant the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir, as pledged in UN resolutions. Reiterating the unwavering position of the Kashmiri people, the APHC leaders, while talking to international media, said that they would not relent in their demand for the right to self-determination, despite the unlawful tactics employed by Indian occupational forces in IIOJK against the innocent people.

Head of the Kashmir Institute of IR, Altaf Hussain Wani, also highlighted the UN’s historic ties advocating for the self-determination rights of Kashmiris, expressing disappointment on the UN’s failure to execute them for the past several years.

Chairman APHC Masarrat Aalam Butt and Abdul Mateen stated the people of the held valley were forced to live under such situations where they could not even breathe freely.

The Kashmiri leadership strongly criticized the Modi regime for implementing sanctions and restrictions, exposing New Delhi’s claim of being a secular country. He called on the world to actively engage in resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir, highlighting that durable peace in the region hinged on a just resolution aligned with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

He commended Islamabad for its proactive approach in highlighting the issue of Kashmir after India’s actions on August 5, asserting that the world needed to comprehend India’s evil designs in IIOJK.

Expressing deep concern over the human rights violations and killings by Indian army in the IIOJK, he deplored the continued siege of Kashmiris by more than one million occupation forces.

He strongly condemned the implementation of draconian laws and the provision of impunity to security troops, facilitating the systematic genocide of Muslims in Kashmir.
