NEW DELHI: Nayeem Ahmed Khan, a detained leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has called upon the United Nations to actively address the Kashmir dispute by implementing its pertinent resolutions.
As reported by Kashmir Media Service, Khan conveyed his message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, emphasizing the imperative role of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in resolving the long-standing conflict on the World Body’s agenda.
Highlighting the repercussions of the events on August 5, 2019, Khan underscored that all laws governing occupied Kashmir were overhauled following this unconstitutional move, transforming a Muslim-majority territory into a minority.
He expressed deep concern over the potential threat of ethnic cleansing and widespread genocide of Kashmiris resulting from this action.
Khan commended the peaceful nature of the people of occupied Kashmir and their steadfast commitment to human values. He urged for a swift resolution to the enduring dispute to prevent any risk of nuclear escalation and ensure lasting peace in the region.
