ISLAMABAD: The authorities on Saturday put the senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest in Srinagar in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The decision was taken to prevent him from paying tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, and offering Fateha for them.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the administration put Mirwaiz under house arrest to stop him from visiting the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Naqshband Sahib.

It said the Indian administration has made it their policy to stop Kashmiris from paying homage to the martyrs of July 13. The APHC described the detention of Mirwaiz as very sad.
