SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concern over the deteriorating health of its illegally detained leaders and activists, demanding their immediate release.

In a statement issued on Thursday from Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas highlighted that these Hurriyat leaders and activists have been imprisoned for years on false charges in Indian and IIOJK jails. He said that they are suffering from serious health issues and are being denied basic medical care.

Minhas pointed out that their unlawful detention is being extended as they are not being presented in court. The APHC stressed that the prolonged detention and harsh prison conditions have severely impacted the physical and mental well-being of many detainees, which is deeply concerning.

The spokesperson mentioned credible reports indicating that Insha Jan is critically ill and has become significantly weakened due to a lack of adequate medical attention.

He called on the international community and global human rights organizations to take notice of the plight of Kashmiri detainees and to pressure India for their release. Minhas emphasized that India cannot intimidate the Kashmiri people through fear and repression, asserting that a resolution to the Kashmir dispute is essential for sustainable peace and development in the region.

He warned that India cannot indefinitely postpone addressing this core issue through stubbornness and unrealistic policies.
