SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed its strong condemnation of the actions taken by the occupation authorities, which involve the prohibition of Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar and the continued house arrest of the senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
According to a statement from the APHC spokesperson in Srinagar, as reported by Kashmir Media Service, it has been the third consecutive Friday during which worshipers were denied access to Jamia Masjid Srinagar. Furthermore, for the third consecutive Friday, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq found himself placed under house arrest. These recurrent occurrences, the spokesperson emphasized, serve as stark reminders of the prevailing situation in IIOJK and the illusion of normalcy that is often projected.
The spokesperson further noted that the authorities had not provided any justification for these restrictions. Speculating on the possible reason behind these actions, the spokesperson suggested that it might be the authorities’ apprehension of a display of support and solidarity by the Kashmiri people for the suffering people of Palestine, who are enduring bombings and violence by Israel. The spokesperson asserted that this solidarity with fellow humans and Muslims in Palestine would persist, irrespective of bans and restrictions.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Kashmiri people, known for their conscientious and humane approach, will consistently stand with the genuine right of the Palestinian people to their land and livelihood. The ongoing atrocities in Gaza, where thousands of children have tragically lost their lives, hospitals and homes have been reduced to rubble, and the relentless suffering of the Palestinian population, were described as a stain on humanity. The spokesperson deplored the fact that those who claim to champion human rights and freedoms either support these actions or remain silent.
