SRINAGAR: In a passionate plea for justice and humanitarianism, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has raised serious concerns regarding the unjust detention of Hurriyat leaders, activists, and young individuals in the conflict-ridden region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC, while highlighting the dire situation, has called upon the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to play a pivotal role in securing the release of these detainees and to help resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute, aligning with the resolutions set forth by the international body.

The APHC’s spokesperson, speaking from Srinagar, has urged for the immediate release of numerous Hurriyat leaders. This includes prominent figures such as APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayyaz, and many more, who have been languishing in various Indian and IIOJK (Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir) jails.

The organization’s statement strongly condemns the Modi-led Indian government for prolonging the illegal detentions of these Kashmiri political prisoners. These detainees have been incarcerated for their peaceful advocacy for a political resolution to the Kashmir dispute, a resolution that is guaranteed by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Furthermore, the APHC laments the Indian government’s actions in closing the doors to peaceful means of resolving the Kashmir conflict. The statement accuses the Modi regime of resorting to extremism and fascism, effectively transforming the occupied territory into a heavily militarized zone.

In a resolute stance, the APHC dismisses Indian propaganda against the freedom movement, the Hurriyat camp, and Pakistan. It emphasizes that the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the resolution of the Kashmir dispute cannot be quelled through oppressive measures and deceitful tactics.

The APHC vows to continue representing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and striving for their fulfilment through a principled stance on dialogue among all stakeholders involved in the Kashmir dispute.

Simultaneously, the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, has echoed these concerns and called upon the United Nations to dispatch teams to IIOJK to assess the situation on the ground. He expressed deep worry about the deteriorating health conditions of the illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists who are held in Indian and IIOJK prisons. Nadvi emphasized the United Nations’ responsibility in settling the Kashmir dispute by implementing its relevant resolutions to safeguard the lives of the people of IIOJK.
