ISLAMABAD: In the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called upon the Kashmiri populace to observe a total shutdown during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the region on March 7th. This collective action aims to convey a resolute rejection of India’s unlawful control over their homeland.
Mehmood Ahmed Sagar, Convener of the APHC AJK Chapter, along with General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mateen and Secretary Information Imtiaz Wani, issued a statement from Islamabad expressing strong condemnation of Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory.
They described it as a cruel mockery directed at the Kashmiri people by the RSS-backed fascist regime led by Modi, which has unleashed unprecedented brutality and stripped the Kashmiri population of their fundamental rights.
The leaders of the APHC underlined that the removal of Articles 370 and 35-A constituted a blatant breach of international law and a direct attack on the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. The special status of IIOJK was removed on August 5, 2019, and since then, Indian security forces have been brutally attacking Kashmiris and tightening the blockade.
The APHC leaders also raised alarm over India’s sinister agenda to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK, to transform Kashmir into a Hindu-majority territory. They urged all sectors of society, including transporters and traders, to participate in the complete strike on March 7th, demonstrating unity and sending a clear message to Narendra Modi that Kashmiris vehemently oppose Indian occupation. —APP
