ISLAMABAD: Local officials said that a massive anti-polio drive is currently underway across Pakistan to vaccinate over 44.3 million children under five years of age. Authorities in Pakistan said that the current anti-polio drive is part of a global effort to eliminate the disease from the South Asian country.

Dedicated polio workers are diligently visiting households, ensuring that every child receives the essential vaccine for comprehensive protection.

Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan, emphasized the importance of citizens cooperating with the polio workers visiting their homes. He mentioned that the Ministry of Health has planned additional campaigns to safeguard children from the deadly virus, noting that Pakistan has organized multiple polio campaigns in the current year.

Dr Nadeem Jan urged everyone to actively participate in the national duty of supporting the anti-polio campaign, emphasising the severity of polio as a disease with no cure that has profound effects on both individual children and their families.

Furthermore, he assured that Pakistan is taking all necessary measures to eradicate the polio virus.
