ISLAMABAD: An 8-year-old minor Afghan girl was raped in broad daylight by a man who managed to escape from the crime scene from Mohallah Diptian falling in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town Police Station.
The victim was shifted to a hospital where the rape was confirmed by the medico-legal team. The Shahzad Town police have registered a case under sections 376 and 377/B of the Pakistan Panel Code (PPC) against the unidentified rapist on the complaint of the victim’s father but couldn’t hunt down the rapist till the filing of this report.
An Afghani national, Hazar Gul, hailing from the city of Jalalabad in Afghanistan, lodged the complaint with Shahzad Town police. He stated that he was living with his family for a couple of months in Mollah Diptian near Marium Masjid.
The complainant while narrating his story said that he was present at his house along with his elder brother when they heard some noises from the street, they rushed out of the house and saw a young man running towards them. Consequently, without knowing the reason of his escape, they both tried to intercept him but he succeeded to let loose from the clutches and ran away from their custody. However, he said that they moved towards the place where people on the street were gathered and he saw his minor daughter crying.
Upon query, the minor girl told the tale of the vicious attack on her. She said she was playing near her house when she was dragged into an under-construction house by the rapist and raped forcibly. The DPO (Rural) has taken up the case and asked the police to take the case as a challenge and do all efforts to arrest the rapist. The SP constituted the teams for the arrest of the rapist and sent them to different locations to get a clue about the rapist.
According to some sources, the police have rounded up a few suspects for interrogation, claiming that the police would make headway to the rapist and hunt him down within the next 24 hours.
