ANKARA: Türkiye summoned Danish envoy to Ankara Danny Annan over the permission of burning the Holy Quran, diplomatic sources said on Friday.

“The Danish envoy in Ankara has just been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following it was learned that an attack against “our holy Quran, was allowed in Denmark today”, the sources said.

The sources said that it was conveyed to the envoy that Türkiye strongly condemns the permission of the provocative act, which clearly promotes a hate crime, and that the attitude of Denmark is not acceptable.

Ankara emphasized that they expect the act will not be allowed.

Friday’s attack was reported a week after extreme-right Swedish-Danish politician Rasmus Paludan on January 21 burned a copy of the Quran, near the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm with permission from the authorities, drawing a strong wave of condemnations from across the Islamic world.
