ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Forces (ANF) seized 618 metric tons of drugs and prohibited chemicals with street value of billions of rupees in over 1900 operations in 2023, local media reported.
According to the details, 1860 people involved in smuggling, including 64 foreign nationals were arrested during different operations. Besides, hundreds of events were arranged to spread awareness regarding menace of drugs.
ANF also participated in 32 international events for counter-narcotics during in 2023. The Anti-Narcotics Forces is committed to eradicate scourge of drugs from the country, according to the officials.
It is to mention here that the then Caretaker Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Sarfraz Bugti had inaugurated the ANF Forensic Lab at the Anti-Narcotics Force Academy (ANFA) here.
He emphasized the lab’s crucial role in expediting prosecutions, easing the burden on other forensic labs, and improving drug detection efficiency through advanced technology.
