LAHORE: Amid a volatile political situation in the Punjab province, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going to stage a protest demonstration outside the Governor House in Lahore today (Thursday) against the political moves by the opposition party in the province.
PTI leader Hammad Azhar announced the protest outside the Governor House at 5 pm. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has decided to hold a meeting outside the Governor House today while all the party workers have been instructed to show up at the venue, he said.
“Join the PTI protest”
He said the provincial assemblies will be dissolved after disposing of the no-confidence motion adding that people from all walks of life should join the PTI protest to get rid of ‘illegal actions.’ He said now there will be no Governor’s rule but people’s rule. He said that Imran Khan will make an important announcement in front of the Governor House today.
Former federal information minister Fawad Chaudhry said the Punjab Assembly speaker wrote a letter to President Arif Alvi about the governor’s misconduct. The Punjab Governor, in his order of December 19 had directed the chief minister to take a vote of confidence from the assembly on December 21. According to Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan, the Governor’s order was illegal and unconstitutional.
