DUBAI: American actress America Ferrera turned heads in a stunning Elie Saab maxi dress during the press junket and photo call for the film “Barbie” in Los Angeles. The dress, selected from the Lebanese label’s spring 2023 collection, showcased capped sleeves, scalloped edges, and sheer white lace paneling.
Directed by Greta Gerwig, “Barbie” is set to hit theaters across the Middle East on July 20 and features a star-studded cast led by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. In the film, Ferrera portrays a human named Gloria, who forms a connection with Robbie’s Barbie when they enter the real world alongside Ken (Gosling).
While discussing her role on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Ferrera shared, “Hijinks ensue from there, and I think that’s all I’m allowed to say,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie also includes appearances by Dua Lipa, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, Sharon Rooney, Simi Liu, Michael Cera, Alexandra Shipp, and Nicola Coughlan.
Elie Saab Dressed New Crown Princess of Jordan
Simultaneously, Elie Saab recently dressed the new Crown Princess of Jordan, Rajwa Al-Hussein, for her wedding to Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II in Amman on June 1. The bride, previously known as Rajwa Al-Saif, wore a classic white gown by the esteemed Lebanese couturier, featuring full sleeves and an eye-catching draped neckline with a dramatic trailing veil.
Elie Saab’s designs have also caught the attention of other celebrities. Taylor Swift, during her blockbuster “Eras Tour” at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in May, chose Saab’s ethereal tulle gown with a wide skirt and an embellished corset. Swift mesmerized the audience while performing the track “Enchanted” in the Lebanese couturier’s creation.
