ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Masood Khan said on Sunday that Pakistan has very beautiful tourist sites with huge but untapped potential.

Addressing a reception for the Pakistani delegates to New York’s Travel and Adventure Show at the Consulate, the ambassador urged members of the Pakistani diaspora to help boost tourism in their motherland by investing in the tourism industry.

He said that Pakistan was not only home to modern and ancient civilizations, but also to all untapped coastal areas, deserts, and rich cultural heritage. All these attractions make the country one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

The Pakistani Consul General Ayesha Ali welcomed the visiting delegates, saying they did a great job in establishing the impressive Pakistan Pavilion at the 2-day Travel and Adventure show, attracting 185 countries.

The reception followed the inauguration of the Pavillion at the show, depicting Pakistan’s tourism potential, by the Special Advisor to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Tourism and Sports Aun Chaudhry.

Pakistan is open for tourism

Cutting a green ribbon to inaugurate the pavilion, Chaudhry said Pakistan is open for tourism.

He said that the pavilion showcased the culture of all provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), with a sharp focus on Gilgit-Baltistan’s scenic locations and its historical past.

Minister for Tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Nasir Ali Khan, the Azad Kashmir Tourism Minister Faheem Akhtar, Ambassador Masood Khan, Consul General Ayesha Ali, and the Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism and Development Corporation Aftab Rana were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
