ISLAMABAD: Adam Tugio, Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, urged Pakistani businessmen on Sunday to look at Indonesia as a trade hub for expanding their export to the huge market of over 640 million people in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He said that the participation of a frigate vessel of the Indonesian Navy in AMAN Naval Exercise 2023 was an example of how Indonesia attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan to promote global peace and security.
Cooperation in defense field has potential to grow further
The envoy said that cooperation in the defense field had the potential to grow beyond capacity-building programs and exchange of military officers.
“More than 50% of conflicts are taking place in OIC geographic. Indonesia and Pakistan are the 2 biggest UN troops contributing states, and the role of women peacekeepers of both countries can contribute to creating an environment for peace and reconciliation in such conflicts”.
He said that Pakistan has full potential to develop its economy due to its geostrategic location and to serve as a gateway to the vast region in Central Asia.
“Pakistan has strong resilience to overcome the financial crises and make strong revival as proved through its history”, the envoy said.
