ALULA: The “AlUla Dates Auction” on Friday witnessed an increased interest from investors in the palm and date sector from different countries, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
AlUla dates are known for their diversity, uniqueness and highest quality. The palm sector in AlUla Governorate has the most significant agricultural activity, covering an area of approximately 16,579.40 hectares, with a total of 3,116 date palms and a yearly production of about 116,055.81 tons.
The date palms of AlUla are distinguished by their diverse varieties, with “Barni AlUla” being the most prominent type, which accounts for 80 percent of the annual harvest. In addition, the varieties of “Halwa,” “Anbara,” and “Medjool” are also available.
Meanwhile, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has successfully conducted marketing and media campaigns to promote the different kinds of dates in the region, facilitated investors, and provided dedicated sales platforms inside and outside the Kingdom.
