ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) will conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for medical students across the country on Sunday, November 13.
According to a spokesperson for the federal health ministry, arrangements have been completed for the MDCAT. He said that more than 204,000 students will appear in the MDC across the country.
Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel said that police and law enforcement agencies’ personnel will be deployed outside examination centres in all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad to ensure the security of examination.
He said that the examination will be conducted by public sector medical universities of the provinces keeping in view the provinces’ accountability, transparency, merit and syllabus.
He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University will conduct the entrance test for students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
This year, 21,188 candidates in Islamabad, including 14,656 female students and 6,532 male students, will appear in the MDCAT that will be held in 18 Federal Education Directorate educational institutions, Barani Agricultural University and Allama Iqbal Open University.
For the MDCAT for international students, centres have been established in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and the examination will be held on the same day and time.
A total of 462 students will appear in the MDCAT at centres in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Vice-chancellors of provincial and federal medical universities and the PMC staff will monitor the MDCAT examination. “Time will prove that a great importance was given to the medical profession, education and research in these six months than in the last four years,” Abdul Qadir Patel said
