SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced grave concern over the deteriorating health and safety of imprisoned Hurriyat leaders and activists incarcerated in various jails in India and in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC raised alarms about the detainees’ suffering from multiple ailments and their physical condition deteriorating due to the alleged negligence and apathy of the jail authorities.

As per the Kashmir Media Service, an APHC spokesman issued a statement in Srinagar, highlighting that these detainees were confined to dark cells and subjected to physical torture. The spokesman also warned India of severe consequences if any incarcerated Hurriyat leader met a fate similar to Zia Mustafa. The APHC demanded the immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists.

The APHC spokesman paid tribute to the resilience and unwavering commitment of the political detainees, including figures like Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, and others. These individuals, along with human rights defenders and journalists, have been detained on what the APHC claims are fabricated charges.

The statement urged the United Nations Council for Human Rights and other human rights organizations to visit Indian and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) jails to assess the deteriorating health conditions of these detained leaders and activists. The APHC also appealed to the UN and international forums to play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in alignment with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
