All-Out Anti-Dengue Fogging Drive Launched in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: To combat the escalating threat of dengue fever, municipal authorities in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have launched an extensive anti-dengue fogging campaign across the city.

Under the leadership of the Director of Health Services Metropolitan Corporation, teams of healthcare workers are dispersing throughout the city, applying insecticides in residential neighborhoods, schools, and other public spaces.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has issued directives to mobilize all available resources in the battle against this deadly virus. He emphasized the need for enhanced sanitation measures in different city areas to eliminate potential dengue breeding sites, as conveyed by ICT spokesman Dr. Abdullah Tabasum.

The fogging operations have been conducted in several locations, including Government Schools IMC G-9/1, G-9/2, Lok Virsa Shakarpadian, IMS G-9/4, G-10 Markaz, G-8 Markaz, IMS G-9/2, Judicial Academy H-8, IMCBI-III, Public Library H-9, Islamabad, involving various departments such as DHS, DHO Office, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Magistrates, Health Department teams, MCI, UASIES teams, and other institutions.

Dengue awareness campaign

Recently, the city has also initiated a public awareness campaign, urging residents to take preventive measures to avoid mosquito bites.

Authorities have intensified their actions to clear garbage and stagnant water from public areas, known breeding sites for mosquitoes.

The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has cautioned that the city is confronted with a “serious dengue threat” and has appealed to residents to collaborate with the authorities’ endeavors to control the virus. The anti-dengue fogging campaign is expected to be sustained over the coming weeks. —APP
