All Citizens Entitled to Equal Rights: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah

ISLAMABAD: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday observed that all citizens, irrespective of their religious beliefs, are entitled to equal rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

Justice Shah, addressing a seminar regarding minorities’ rights in Lahore, underscored that minorities are not just a statistical group but a vital component of the nation’s identity.

He said the Constitution gives full protection to minorities, and national flag of Pakistan proudly represents their presence.

The Juge remarked the white stripe in Pakistan’s flag symbolizes the rights and inclusion of minorities, and we welcome judges from minority communities to join the judiciary.

Justice Shah highlighting a distinctive characteristic of Pakistan, noted that that it is the only country whose national flag symbolizes the presence of minorities.

He stressed that the Constitution ensures equal rights for all citizens, including minorities who constitute approximately four percent of the population.

Justice Shah continued that Islam teaches us tolerance, kindness, and compassion towards minorities. “We must uphold these values and ensure that minorities feel safe and protected under the law,” he said.
