BAKU: Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev said on Sunday that he achieved a decades-long “Azerbaijani dream” by regaining Karabakh from Armenian separatists, as the president raised his nation’s flag in the region’s main city, local media reported.
Aliyev Says He Fulfilled Azerbaijani ‘Dream’ in Karabakh
Dressed in army attire, he flew the blue-red-green flag in Khankendi, cementing his country’s conquest following last month’s operation. It was the first time President Aliyev had set foot in the city since it fell to Armenians in the 1990s.
“We had achieved what we wished. We fulfilled the dream of the people of Azerbaijan,” President Aliyev said in a victory speech, saying that his nation “waited 20 years” to see Azerbaijan’s rule in Karabakh.

President Aliyev said that they victory would stay in their history forever.
Baku had also published pictures of the leader in army attire on his knees and kissing the flag of Azerbaijan before it was raised on a mast. It added he also visited a tank and an ancient stronghold, as well as other cities.

Azerbaijan reclaimed complete control over Karabakh last month following taking counter-terrorism acts in the area, which resulted in the surrender of unlawful armed groups, finishing a decades-long battle.
Officials have repeatedly said that they would protect the rights and ensure the security of the Armenian people in Karabakh as per Azerbaijan’s law.
