ALGIERS: Algeria said on Monday that it had summoned the Danish and Swedish diplomats to condemn recent burnings of the Holy Quran in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
The foreign ministry said in a statement that it had on Monday summoned the Danish envoy and the Swedish charge d’affaires to formally protest events in the two nations in which the Holy Quran was desecrated or stamped on.
Algeria also said that itfirmly condemns these uncivil and immoral acts that target all that is sacred for Muslims around the world, AFP reported.
Algeria does not accept argument
The statement said it did not accept the argument that such acts were permissible in the name of freedom of expression.

It added tat these reprehensible acts are contrary to the values of co-existence and tolerance and only serve to revive Islamophobia and hatred.
