ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that the vision of Al-Qadir University – an initiative of the previous government – is to become a center of higher education equipped with Islamic principles and modern contemporary sciences.
In a tweet, the PTI chief shared a picture of the institute’s building and students and said that the university’s PhD Faculty, in a bid to facilitate effective nation-building, educates deserving students who belong to remote areas and are otherwise not able to receive quality higher education.
Well-intended yet scandalous education project
Former prime minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking for the Al-Qadir University on May 5 2019, at Sohawa, in the Jhelum District of Punjab province.
The current government has alleged that Khan and his wife acquired land for the educational institute from Bahria Town of business tycoon Malik Riaz in exchange for relief on Riaz’s confiscated money in the UK.
