MIRPUR, AJK: Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Chaudhry has directed immediate action to ensure the state’s road network remains operational during the monsoon season. At a high-level meeting held at the AJK House in Islamabad, Chaudhry emphasized the importance of maintaining road access to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow amid the ongoing heavy rains.

The meeting focused on evaluating the damage inflicted on the road infrastructure by recent monsoon rains. Prime Minister Chaudhry instructed that all officers and staff from relevant departments—including the State Disaster Management Authority, 1122, the National Highway Authority (NHA), Police, and other administrative bodies—have their leaves canceled and remain on high alert.

Chaudhry specifically called for the restoration of a crucial 7-kilometer alternative route from Kohala to Muzaffarabad, vital for heavy traffic. He also mandated that daily reports be submitted detailing the status of road closures and maintenance activities.

The meeting was attended by key officials including Minister for Communications Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Chief Secretary Dawood Muhammad Bareech, and Director General of the State Disaster Management Authority Masood ur Rehman, with NHA officers participating via video conference.
