AJK President Urges US to Help Peacefully Resolve Kashmir Dispute

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry on Sunday urged the United States to play their due role in helping resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute peacefully.

The AJP President expressed these views in a meeting with the United States Deputy Ambassador Andrew J Schofer, who called on him at the President House in Jammu and Kashmir House in Islamabad, AJK President’s office said on Sunday evening.

Situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir

Speaking on the occasion, the AJK president, while referring to the worsening political and human rights situation in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir, said that at a time when the people of Kashmir were stuck in a grave situation, it was incumbent upon the global community, especially the United States to play its much-needed role in stopping the violation of human rights in the region.

Barrister Chaudhry thanked the US administration for generous support to flood victims in Pakistan, saying, “We are deeply grateful to the United States for the assistance it extended to Pakistan’s flood victims. The US assistance will greatly help solve the flood victims’ problems.”
